hello, to have computer skills have become part of our daily life, that´s why nowadays we can see that many people are learning on how to use computers and the internet as well, but the question is why??? well, there are many reasons we can talk about, but in this entry we are going to talk about a simple one, companies require people who know how to use the computers and the internet as well, so that people have started to think seriously on this issue, and that´s why we can see how the amount of people studying about this has increased a lot.
I have to say and be clear on some aspects; first of all, it is not just to know on how to use the computer, but to have computer skills, so that you are the most suit person for applying a job. To have computer skills is very complex because it means that you have to be updated with programs you may use in your job; you need to know what this or that buttom may works for, or how can you get easier to a menu or any function that can help you to do things faster. etc.You also have to be able to use the internet, distinguish for example what information is more relevant or essential than the other one because let me tell you that on internet as you must know, you will find information that is not reliable, so that you have to be able to make those differences, so if we talk about reliable information, we have to say that you gotta be able to identify those sites that are reliable as well. It may not seen to be easy, but as you start getting acquainted, you will see that it is kind of easy and you will become an expert on this issue.
Now let´s move on on this other part, having computer skills as I said before can be kind of hard for some people as for others can be the opposite, I mean, easy. I think that everything will depend on the efforts and wishes that you have to learn.
There are some things that I consider useful for your learning on this, and it is that if we wish to learn, we also have to be kind of curious to find out for example on what this key may work for, or what can I do or application I can get into if I click on this menu, etc (you can do this if you are working on your own computer of course, otherwise, you can get into troubles if you are using computers on a cyber cafe or any other place).
So, whenever you have the chance to study about computer and the use of technology, do not doubt on asking your instructor for more information regarded with what you are learning as it will help you to become more expert on what we have been discussiong about; of course this world of technology is very complex and even thought when we think we have learned enough, there will be something new to learn every day.
So as a conclusion, I can say that we have to start becoming aware on what we can do right now, and what we can improve related with the use of computer and the internet because let me say that, I do not know you but sometimes there are children that know more about this issue than yourself, so we have to become more acquainted with this as it is taken or being part of our lives.
We can see how the use of technology is improving day by day, and it means that people need to be updated with all those changes. There are new things to learn, and what is our way? to follow them othewise we are going to be kind of lost. why do I say this? it is because as I said before technology is improving, so the new model of computers, programs, etc, are changing, and we have to be involved in those changes, I mean, we have to be like following the new updates of all what we have been discussing about.

There are many teachers who extract quizzes from internet to pass them in the class. in some other cases, teachers just download lesson plans to develop the class because on internet we can find many things related with the teaching process such as activities, techniques, worksheets, etc. these are just some examples but we have a bunch of information on internet that can be used for teachers.
ReplyDeleteAs you said, computer skills are crucial in our reality, but the thing is that sometimes students don't want to learn more about computers because they say that they know how to look for something in Internet and how to use Word and Power Point. I think that this kind of people need a twofold effort to develop Internet skills, and here is when we can do something to motivate them to do it. BUT WE MUST BE MOTIVATED,TOO.
ReplyDeleteThe computer and Internet have been updating day after day and we as students or teachers must go at its pace to be competent in our field and to have a better performance in our professional life. In addition, there´re no doubts that we must be curious to be aware of the new technology and its application programs; we must experience by ourselves, and ask about the correct used of the computer, or the correct use of any application program if we have doubts as you said.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with you Alex when you say that it is not just about knowing how to use a computer but having computer skills; I guess it used to be my problem since I knew how to use a computer, but I didn´t really know how to use to get the great benefits it gives, and I even got frustrated because I used to think that computers and internet were just a waste of time. Fortunately, as time passed by and because the need I had, I got some computer skills and now I can say that computers and internet definitely make your life easier, besides, they also teach and help us a lot.
