Warm-up
Students get ready to begin the class by playing this fun and easy game in which they will be able to challenge “the virtual teacher” and throw him overboard by clicking the word that does not belong to a certain group of words. Students should be smart and click on the highest number of any dice since this is the number of steps that “the virtual teacher” walks forward if the students answer correctly, but if they don´t, “the virtual teacher” walks backward the same number of steps. Play the game in the next link:
Copy the words you chose that do not belong to each group in our group in Facebook. You must copy the word before choosing it, so that you are able to send them to your teachers.
Presentation
Through these series of videos, students are going to get involved with some vocabulary and the correct use of the present continuous with the verb to be. In the first, second and third video, students get familiarized with some action verbs and with affirmative and negative sentences using the present continuous as the target structure. In the fourth video, students interact with it by repeating some statements. In the last video, which is the sixth according to the sequence of these videos, students get familiarized with a “wh question” using the present continuous, and they also review affirmative statements using our target structure. Watch the videos in the next link:
IMPORTANT NOTE: There are five videos that students can easily watch just by clicking the next one that continuous the sequence. All of them are called “present continuous verb tense”, but each one has its own number and subtopic. The sequence of the videos´ number goes like this: pt. 1, pt. 2, pt. 3, pt. 4, and pt. 6, so if you don´t find pt. 5 don´t feel lost because it doesn´t exist.
